Installation Instructions
XDAT has been tested on various Linux distros and on Windows XP / Windows 7. Users have told me it also runs fine on Mac OS-X, but I have not checked this myself.
Since version 1.5 XDAT actually does not require any installation. Just follow the steps below to run it.
- Make sure that you have the Java Runtime Environment (at least version 8) installed on your system.
Note: it does not have to be the Oracle JRE. There are free alternatives! I strongly recommend to use one of those. - Download the executable jar file.
- Extract the downloaded zip file to a folder of your choice.
- On Linux, xdat can be run from a console:
java -jar xdat.jar - On Windows, xdat can be started by double-clicking on the file named xdat.jar
- If that does not work, open a dos console in the directory where the xdat files are and type
java -jar xdat.jar
