XDAT Version 1.4 - INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Make sure that you have the Java Runtime Environment installed on your system. If you do not have it you can download it at http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp Extract the downloaded zip file xdat-v1.4-binary-files to a folder of your choice. On Windows, you may want to create a shortcut on your desktop. You can do this by right-clicking on the file run_xdat_windows.bat and choosing "send to" and then "Desktop". On Linux, run the script install_xdat_linux.sh (with admin rights). This will create a script called xdat in the /usr/bin directory that launches XDAT. After installation, run XDAT as follows: - On windows double-click run_xdat_windows.bat (or the shortcut to it if you created one). - On linux type the command 'xdat' (without the quotes) in a shell. - If you do not wish to run the installation script, or if you do not have admin rights on your system, you can also start XDAT by running run_xdat_linux from within the directory where it resides.
